How to buy our veils, tiaras and wedding accessories

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

We know how frustrating it can be to see the perfect veil or wedding accessories online only to struggle to find them in the shops. We often get enquiries from brides who have seen our veils, tiaras, jewellery or other accessories on our website but don’t know how or where to buy them.

Firstly, the most important thing to remember is – we are here to help! Whether you are a bride, a bridal shop, mother of the bride or a bridesmaid, you are more than welcome to give us a call or an email. One strength of our company is that nearly all of our customer service team have previously trained in our veil, tiara, millinery or jewellery departments. This means they are real experts at not only the basics – pointing you in the direction of your nearest bridal shop – but also more complex queries like which colours match best, or which tiara will complement which veil and jewellery. We have thousands of designs and we know this can be a little daunting, so no matter who you are, feel free to call or email us, we’re always happy to help.

We have stockists in nearly every UK city or town so we’re sure to be able to help. Once you have found your nearest bridal shop, what’s next? Well it is important to bear in mind that bridal shops are not like ordinary shops – they are special. If you visit one we have recommended, we are sure they will be able to accommodate your requests. So simply ask for the product you want – using the product code is always a good tip (e.g. veil C297A). Our stockists know that whatever you want, we can provide them with it – they may not have it in the shop there and then, but this isn’t a problem – everything is made to order especially for you.

Once you have asked a bridal shop for exactly what you want, we can make it up and send it out to them, knowing that they will provide you with not only excellent service, but also a wonderful experience. This is something that we think can only happen face to face, which is why we do not supply to online retailers – be wary of those who claim to sell our products and if you’re unsure – just ask!

New hats and fascinators for 2010

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Our team of milliners have been working tirelessly to develop cutting-edge designs to add to the Boutique Collection by Richard Designs.

It takes a long time to develop something truly memorable but the ideas our talented team have developed for this season are truly ground-breaking and really turn the idea of hats on their head! This BM 141H is a double-brimmed hat, it provides a striking look, which is sure to get attention.

Hat BM141H

Following on from the theme of doubling-up components of the hat the BM152H below has, in effect, a split-brim. This provides a stunning look from both the back and the front. This hat is especially impressive when the vast range of colours available are considered; the combinations are endless and it is sure to match any outfit you are wearing.

Remember, all of our hats and fascinators are individually made to order, which means that we can tailor your hat to complement your look. Our renowned milliners have also developed a unique take on sinamay; by ‘blending’ various types and colours, we can provide a tonal effect unavailable elsewhere, this provides even more shades of in-season colours.

Creating every hat by hand, here in the UK, gives us total control over its quality and from start to finish, every process is aimed at serving the customer’s needs; our 4x layering of sinamay and our attention to detail means we have the best quality hats anywhere. If you are a trade customer and you would like to know more about stocking our products, please contact us for more information. Our team are also happy to answer any questions from non-trade customers and point you in the direction of your local stockist.

A quick note about online retailers…

Monday, February 15th, 2010

There is no doubt that the internet has changed the way we shop for many things; books, CDs, electronics and food are all commonly bought online these days and fashion and clothing is also having an increasing role to play online. A few years ago, we at Richard Designs took the decision not to supply products online; either ourselves, or through online bridalwear retailers.

The reason we made this decision was clear; we do not believe that internet retailers can provide the level of service you deserve for your big day. While they may be able to offer apparently cheaper prices, the quality of the product is not comparable. Additionally, we often hear of problems with brides who are let down, either on delivery dates (a real nightmare!), wrong colours, size and also on returns policies, which can often lead to unwanted accessories and unnecessary expense.

However, over the past few months we have noticed an increased number of online retailers claiming to sell Richard Designs’ products. We work hard to ensure that all of our stockists are genuine, responsible retailers with experience of selling bridalwear who can provide a safe environment for brides to purchase items for their special day. It is extremely disappointing that some websites claim to sell Richard Designs products when we know for certain they cannot possibly; because we do not sell to them!

As we will not sell to online retailers, brides should be extremely suspicious of any website which claims to stock Richard Designs’ items. If in doubt, please feel free to contact us; websites that make this claim may or may not be known to us. Furthermore any brides who find themselves having been deceived by such websites are more than welcome to come to us to ask for advice or help.

Finally, we would like to assure our genuine retail stockists and their brides of our commitment to avoiding selling to internet sites and we ask for your support in spotting unscrupulous websites who undermine the high quality for which we are known.

We warmly welcome you to stand WN31 at Moda UK 21st-23rd February

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

This season we have gone ‘wild’ with our designs! Maintaining our reputation for working with the trends of the approaching season, we have introduced three new sinemay prints, leopard, giraffe and zebra. Touches of ‘animal print’ inspired feathers add the subtle effect required to complement the fashion-forward garments of next season, while there are some showstoppers that will wow crowds at Ascot!

BM151HIn keeping with our move towards more innovative styles, we have worked to create some very unusual ‘twin brim’ hats that are extraordinary in their construction. The small twin brim seen here is a quirky and contemporary take on the small brim and is remarkably versatile. New shapes also include a Medium Breton, which is a slightly smaller brim and easier to wear. We also have a medium wave for those who like a shaped brim, but require something a little more understated.

New Fascinators

Fascinators are innovative, yet commercial and include the forms of sinamay disc shapes that are very popular at present along with linear feather focal pieces. Wired components add sparkle to a simple, yet classic designs and our clever use of millinery materials allow silk to transform into fluid structures that maintain their shape.

New Colours

In keeping a fresh colour palette has been introduced to complement the current and foreseen season with the introduction of royal blue, oasis green, citron, forest, smoke grey, plum, raspberry, heather and indigo. Not forgetting the tribal themed shades of zebra (a stone, pewter, black and white mix), giraffe (a mix of latté, almond, mushroom and mink), and leopard (a pale gold, pewter and honey combination).

Moda 2010
