Blooming Marvellous! A Sneak Preview…

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Work has already started on our next collection and we have been tirelessly researching the designer influences that have inspired key wedding gown suppliers in order to create accessories that match perfectly!

Bridal Indian Summer

At this September’s Harrogate show we will have on offer the styles that are designed to complement gowns that you will have purchased in March, so be ready to see many key trend influences within the designs.  Dominant trends include a green-fingered influence with bountiful blooms adorning gowns across the board.  Delicate repeat appliqués were sewn with larger coiled silk rose corsage details.  Not a bust line or side gather was left without some kind of lace lily or crystal chrysanthemum!

Indian Summer

The sizzling summer theme continues with designs that complement the style influences of next year’s gown collections.  With the intense popularity of Eastern culture through fashion and cinema, I have been inspired to create ‘Indian Summer’ for my second story.  The British Empire and its involvement with India, during a period where climbing the social ladder was paramount has been illustrated through films like ‘Vanity Fair’.  It is the Indian design influence on the classes, through trade and importing goods, that has inspired this theme of refined, luxurious design.

Bridal Indian Summer 02

Taking inspiration from Indian textile patterns and ceremonial dress, I have found a wealth of original patterns and forms that are inspiring truly unique veil and headdress designs for the new collection. Indulgent use of jewels and precious metals in paisley and floral forms, symbolic of their culture, has seen a progressive link with bridal fashion, which when diluted provides beautiful appliqué designs.  Influence from ceremonial jewellery and the hues of Indian summer are evident in our new designs, with Eastern-inspired headdresses answering a voiced demand from customers who desire this more exotic style-sensation!

Need to know: Blue Ribbon Petticoats

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

After last week’s blog we’ve had a number of enquiries and questions about Blue Ribbon Petticoats…

Blue Ribbon Petticoats are a range of beautiful petticoats which we have designed in-house at Richard Designs and which we handmake ourselves near Cambridge, England.

As you can see from our petticoat gallery, the range we offer now supports all of the popular wedding dress shapes in the market place. From the very simple BR1, to the massive BR16, short petticoats are available (a BR15) and so are fish-tale style petticoats (BR6, BR11 and BR21).

Petticoat BR1

Lots of people ask us how Blue Ribbon Petticoats got their name; the answer is simple. When crafting this range, we wanted every petticoat to be elegant and feminine, which is why we use the best quality tulle, ribbon and lace. The name derives from the small blue ribbon which is hand sewn on every petticoat once it is finished; this is great for your something blue! Blue ribbon is also a symbolic term to describe something of high quality.

Petticoat BR11

If you weren’t thinking of having a petticoat, take another look at Blue Ribbon Petticoats; you will be surprised by how beautiful they are. You’ve spent ages picking the perfect dress, now it deserves the perfect petticoat! Our petticoats will keep the perfect shape of your dress and the hidden hoop around your ankles will ensure you walk elegantly down the aisle.

Blue Ribbon Petticoats are now stocked in shops throughout the UK and US. Call 0845 456 8662 or email info@richarddesigns.co.uk to find your nearest UK stockist or call 888 UK VEILS (888 858 3451) for your nearest US stockist.

New Petticoat designs and pictures!

Friday, April 9th, 2010

In this week’s blog we reveal some brand new petticoat designs, which are sure to complement this season’s new wedding dress shapes.

Blue Ribbon Petticoats were launched in 2008 with the wearer’s needs first and foremost in our minds. These modern petticoats are both attractive and comfortable. Since launching the range we’ve had great success with lots of positive feedback from our customers. Following on from this feedback we have also created several new distinctive designs, three of which you can see below and in our petticoat shop window.

Petticoat BR18

Our BR18 is unique, with one and a half hoops – giving it a full shape, with an extra train at the back.

Petticoat BR20

This BR20 is a full two-hooped petticoat, which is proving very popular with brides who want a full Hollywood-style dress. We also have an even bigger petticoat with 8 layers of tulle, a BR16.

Petticoat BR21

The BR21 above really stole the show at BBEH, a beautiful fish-tale style petticoat with a train for those in-season wedding gowns. It has a hoop at the bottom for keeping the dress away from your ankles – making walking in your wedding dress much easier and more elegant.

All of our Blue Ribbon Petticoats are available in sizes 8 – 28, with a powernet waist for comfort. We also do an optional velcro waist fitting at no extra charge, which is proving especially popular in larger sizes.

Ivory, white, antique white (off-white), black, pale gold, red, fuchsia, pale pink, pale blue, turquoise and purple are all colours we offer for our petticoats – no matter which style you pick, there is no extra charge for changing the colour to suit you. So you can have the perfect petticoat for your dress, without the stress!

If you are interested in our petticoats or would like more information on what we can do for you, please call us on (01353) 661600 or 0845 456 8662. You can also email info@richarddesigns.co.uk or leave a question below – we have an excellent team who can answer any queries you might have.

Enquiries are welcome from both trade customers and brides – we will point brides in the direction of a bridal shop to purchase their petticoat – so you can get the best possible service and can be sure you have the perfect petticoat for your special day.
