Christmas wedding accessories

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

Winter isn’t the traditional time for a wedding, but still proves relatively popular with some brides. A winter wedding can be quite magical with crisp weather, luxurious fabrics and a sense of celebration already in the air.

Here is a round up of our best veils, tiaras and jewellery for a Christmas wedding.

Wedding Jewellery

Bracelet P439B

This cuff bracelet style P439B adds a chunky yet delicate finishing touch to your gown, with a touch of sparkle.

Necklace P458 Silver AB Clarite Platinium

Winter weddings are the perfect opportunity to add a depth of colour to your wedding gown and accessories. This necklace P458 with clarite crystals and platinum pearls is gorgeous with its delicate filigree detailing.

Jewellery set P505

For subtle bling that isn’t too heavy, this P505 necklace, bracelet and earrings is perfect for the ‘ice queen’ wedding look.

Wedding Veils

Veil C331B

At the September British Bridal Exhibition this veil proved very popular in our Destination Weddings section. However we also think it would be perfect for a soft, floaty Christmas wedding.

Lace veil C270C

You can see why we have chosen this beaded lace edged veil style C270C. Being a single tiered veil the gorgeous detail continues all the way to the comb, framing the face for a purely traditional look that remains stylish.

Crystal Veil C290C

The heavily encrusted crystal edge on this C290C veil is very popular for winter weddings with it’s icy, sparkling effect.

Red ribbon veil R2

Everyone loves a ribbon edged veil (style number R2) and at Christmas we always receive several requests for ivory veiling and red ribbon edge. Red has to be one of the most popular colours for Christmas weddings.

Tiaras & head bands

Tiara TR1215A

This tiara TR1215A is part of our most recent collection. The mix of tulle and pearls adds texture and lightness to the heavier silver crystals.

Tiara TR1050A Ivory Silver

This headband TR1050A is a real stunner with the decoration coming down one side of the face. The mixture of satin and tulle adds height and interest, and the drops of silver crystal finish the look perfectly. This type of tiara can still be worn with a veil, just wear the veil further to the back of the head.

Tiara TR1249A

The glossy pink Swarovski crystal pearls in this TR1249A add a delicate warmth to your winter wedding outfit.

Wedding shops: refresh for the new season

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

Following the news of our office and workroom refurbishments and our new order management system, we now bring you our advice for refreshing your shop for the new season.

In the bridal trade, the traditional ‘spring clean’ turns into a ‘winter clean’ when days are less busy and fewer brides are coming into the shop. The number of proposals rising over the Christmas period brings an influx of brides into your shop in January meaning that your shop needs to look fabulous and sparkling ready for your new brides.

spring cleaning

Old stock is one of the biggest and most obvious indications that your shop is looking tired and ready for a refresh. You need to make sure that you have up to date styles and clean, fresh looking stock. Tatty veils, out of shape tiaras, and broken zips on dresses will really put a bride off and they will simply go somewhere else.

Replace your old samples with our special offer

As usual at this time of year, we encourage our customers to refresh and renew old sample veils that have become tired through the busy spring and summer. It’s surprising how tired veils can get without you noticing as you look at them every day. For fresh new samples that next year’s brides will be delighted to try on and purchase for their special day, just send in your top sellers to us and we will replace them for just 50% of the normal price. You only need to have ordered 5 of them this year to qualify for this special offer!

Wedding Shop

Our company representatives are available for appointments to show you our new styles of tiaras, veils, jewellery, petticoats and occasion wear hats and fascinators this week and next. Just call (01353 661600) or email Vicki (vicki@richarddesigns.co.uk) for an appointment. We can also send you our popular Classics veils on approval. The Classics are our collection of simple, traditional styles at stunning prices, with our usual high quality craftsmanship and soft tulle. Just call or email us for more information.

The Classics

Our other tips for refreshing the look of your shop:

  1. Clean, clean, clean every nook and cranny
  2. If necessary give the shop a fresh lick of paint and new carpet (you can find real bargains on carpet if you look for end-of-roll pieces)
  3. Make sure your changing rooms are clean and inviting, and there are comfy sofas and chairs for the friends of the bride to relax on
  4. Make your shop window dazzling for Christmas, but don’t forget to remove the decorations promptly after Christmas and fill the gaps with another interesting display
  5. Have champagne and magazines at the ready for your customers – remember this isn’t a grocery shopping trip but more of a once-in-a-lifetime pampering, girly session.
  6. Print and frame pictures from your recent photo shoot, wedding fair or of your in-stock gowns. Look for websites that will print these in large sizes for you at just a small cost.
  7. Make a list of little things that will make your life easier and prioritise them! This is the time to get all of those small jobs done, whether that is to get a new, faster credit card reader, a better packing system or a way to display your jewellery which makes it easily accessible.

So stock up on that champagne, vacuum your skirting boards and get ready for the new season!

As part of our programme of improvements, we are having our order system upgraded to automatically email confirmation each time an order is placed

Throughout this quieter season we are working on a series of improvements both to our customer service and sales departments and to our workrooms and offices in Ely.

We are having our order system updated to include an automatic email system that will confirm your items together with the price of each and the estimated despatch date.

Once your order is despatched, you will receive a second email to let you know that it has been sent to you.

Making improvements at Richard Designs

Earlier this summer we refurbished our reception area, next was our invoicing department and customer accounts. Sandra now has her own dedicated office especially for looking after your accounts.

Our Millinery department has been enlarged this summer to cope with the large increase in orders we have seen this year.

Our petticoat department now has its own dedicated cutting area and more machinists to keep up with growing demand for Blue Ribbon.

This month we have refurbished our packing hall which now has more space for packing your items to make things much more efficient. Our sales office has relocated across the stairs, so Vicki has a dedicated space especially for arranging your sales appointments with Ben.

Our remaining office space is currently being refurbished and reorganised and will be ready for a great start to 2011!
