Thank you for visiting our Romeo & Juliet inspired stand at Harrogate!

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

We had a great time at the British Bridal Exhibition, so thank you to everyone who came to visit us on our Romeo and Juliet inspired stand at the BBEH last week!

Masquerade Ball at the BBEH

Today we share with you pictures of bestselling styles from the show. If you missed the show, these are the styles to watch out for as they were the most popular with buyers.

Our stand was transformed into a romantic dream to show off our new Romeo & Juliet inspired designs. The centre of the stand played home to the Masquerade ball inspired pieces such as the TR1505A.

Richard Designs Tiara TR1505A

with the inclusion of silver and ivory lace, diamante and pearl this is a dramatic yet pretty piece.

C378C continues this dramatic theme, with gold lace on the bottom of the veil, and elaborate, pleated detailing on the comb.

The provincial Tuscan garden scene displayed beautiful romantic designs such as this TR1510A.

Richard Designs Rose Tiara TR1510A

With a trio of roses in a small traditional tiara shape, and finished off with delicate pearls.

The C384B was another design you loved, showing that our design team were right on track with their Juliet cap veils. Easily secured with just two mini-combs, these veils are easy to wear and create a striking bridal look.

The juliet-cap veil C384A also proved very popular.

Our new belts were of course a success, as the new must-have accessory was on the top of everyone’s shopping list! Our bestselling new styles included Belt023 with a decorative clasp.

New shoe clips were also very popular, as they add another option for brides. Bestselling styles included Shoe Clip 7.

And last but not least, we were so pleased that you all loved our dress straps so much. These were new for this show, and are the perfect way for brides to add a unique touch to their gown.

As our new samples are winding their way to Harrogate for the BBEH this weekend, we bring you a sneak preview onto what to expect on the Richard Designs stand (M33) at the British Bridal Exhibition.

As many of you know, we release our two collections at the Harrogate shows each year. Each of our collections has been inspired by theme which is reflected throughout the designs.

Our new collection is entitled

Romeo & Jewliet

and

At a Masquerade Ball

The collection takes its influence from the organic feel of outdoor weddings in Tuscany, with a few pieces taking influence from the Masquerade ball featured in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

With the rising trend for outdoor weddings, there is a provincial, rustic feel to the collections, which stems from the outdoors in Italy. Features include olive vines with a organic edge.

We have incorporated many features in our designs to reflect the romantic, Italian culture. From delicate, detailed lace to lavish aged metal details, with intricate modern upright tiaras and floaty, soft side pieces. Veils include a new incorporation of lace, with lots of detail around the face, and the Juliet cap being the star.

Texture is still key, with dress designers incorporating oversized 3D flowers, tiered skirts, sequins and an abundance of point d’esprit and needlepoint lace. Upright tiaras have texture and detail without being too full, and side pieces incorporate silks and laces for texture without weight. Our designers have stepped outside the usual boundaries, and have incorporated fabrics and components which wouldn’t usually be combined. This results in a beautiful, unique look.

We cannot wait to show you the new pieces and take you into a world of luxury Italia on stand M33 this weekend March 11th –13th.

Don’t forget the Classics will also be on Stand M33, with new tiara, veil and jewellery styles (including a lace edge veil!) at great prices.

Visit M30 for all your petticoats and shrugs

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012

As we continue our tour of the RD stands at BBEH, today we focus on Blue Ribbon, with a special announcement at the end of this post…

Blue Ribbon has a new home for this Harrogate show as we have moved to stand M30. M30 is next-door to our previous stand so you shouldn’t miss us!

On our new stand we will have more room for Blue Ribbon shrugs alongside our petticoats. Since their launch at last September’s BBEH, the shrug collection has been hugely popular, so of course we have some new styles to show you this time!

New shapes include the capelet, a full-collared bridal jacket, and a delicate Juliet-style pleated sleeve. We have combined these new shapes with stunning new fabrics including faux fur and spotted tulle!

Blue Ribbon are known for attention to detail, and the shrugs are no different. With brooch detailing, embellished beading, and crystal and lace edges there are some real eye-catching designs.

Of course we cannot forget the petticoats, Blue Ribbon’s signature line. With the widest range of shapes available, from fishtail to bustle, and the highest quality British manufacturing, Blue Ribbon petticoats are truly special.

And last but not least, we are pleased to announce that we will have available on stand M30 our very special Blue Ribbon Pins. We are aiming to raise £20,000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer in the next 12 months through the sale of these bridal pins, and we would love your help.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a wonderful charity working for a cause close to many of our hearts and we think that together we can truly make a difference. Please help us by purchasing a pack of 15 of these pins (we will give you all the marketing material you need) and making them available to your brides. £1 per pin sold will go straight to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. For more specific information, please come to stand M30 at the British Bridal Exhibition, where we will also have some examples of the pins for you to see.

We hope that you will support us in this important cause.

Visit M32 for Mother of the Bride Hats, Fascinators and CM Couture Gowns

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

It’s that time of year again! We can’t believe the six months since the September 2011 Harrogate show have flown by so fast, but we are now in our countdown to this weekend’s BBEH. All this week we will be sharing with you what you can expect to see from us at the BBEH, and where we’ll be, including some first-look pictures from the new collections.

First up, the Boutique Collection. We always take the Boutique Collection to BBEH after showing it at Moda, so that all of those who couldn’t make it to Moda to have another chance to see the entire collection.

This show we will be moving from our previous stand to a new stand, M32. Stand M32 is just down the corridor from our old stand, so you should be able to find us easily.

This new stand gives us more space which means an opportunity to show the CM Couture gowns for a second time. These high-end gowns were popular at Moda, with buyers commenting that they are luxurious and well-made. We hope that the visitors to BBEH love them as much as we do!

CM Couture and RD at Moda

Of course we will have our collection of hats and fascinators with us, which can be colour matched to the outfits you have bought for the current and upcoming season. Kelly Herd and Ben Dicks will be on the stand to talk you through the collection and show you the vast colour options available.
