Autumn/Winter 2010

We are currently working on both new designs and co-ordinating colour-ways to accompany garments ordered at the February Moda show. This is not to say that we are not also matching current spring/summer 2010 colours as well!

Mood Board Boutique 2010/2011

A Magnificent Jewel Parade

The current trend for berry shades is carried forward from previous collections. Michaela Louisa and Michael Ambers have indulged in this rich berry squash, with a strong use of geisha, raspberry and morello, balanced by black accents. Blue remains strong, with the colour spectrum ranging from sapphire to midnight, these shades when used in a BM 143H Red and Blackblock of colour are truly electric! Red stands to attention, flagged by black lace accents. The use of lace is predominant this autumn, appliquéd to waist-lines, and bust-lines, breaking up the column forms of empire line dresses, A-line skirts and jacket twin pieces. Lace is also featured as an overlay with the introduction of brocade and crewel shoulder detailing. There is one trend that is prevalent this autumn, it is evidenced in many collections and illustrated through choices of embellishment and shape; a story that has filtered through from catwalks worldwide; ‘From Russia, with Love’ (as I like to call it). The theme of my mood board illustrates the influence high end designers have taken from the Russian Tsars’ military garments. Key shapes such as the square cut of jackets and necklines with belt-style detailing are featured throughout this trend. The magnificence of the Tsar dynasty and their highly embellished uniforms are key influences, evident in the crewel detailing and use of strong regal colours in the autumn collections. Military ornamental details are key to our collection, to echo this trend for honorary decoration, while the use of lace softens and feminises the overall look.

Flowers and Lace

Floral prints are not amiss, with their use for autumn collections as bold as ever; this season there is a use of abstract forms, in bright citron, red, geisha and sapphire. Filtering through from summer 2010, 3D rose appliqué is key, with detailing at the waist and shoulder, in two-tones such as that of Linea Raffaelli’s shot taffetas, with lace appliqué detail breaking up the statuesque two pieces. Floral shades such as lavender, heather and blossom tone comfortably against the shot green and turquoise blues. The whole look is sophisticated feminine glamour, a classic mix of tailored clean lines with floral finishes, leaving plenty of scope to add a stylish accessory, be it a hat or fascinator.

Spring/Summer 2011Mood Board Boutique 2011

Looking forward to the much-anticipated spring/summer 2011 season, we see an explosive bundle of positivity for next year, with colour trends projecting great things for the coming season! Gone are the unsure, instabilities of the 2009/2010 collections, with their ‘safe’ colour palettes; pleasantly we are treated to a celebration with ‘A Colourful Embrace’ of all that we love about summer!

Boutique Collection Mood Board 2011The theme ’summer blooms’ sees traditional British bouquet shades, mixed with classic brights, juxtaposed against argumentative acid shades that are typical of the beauty of tropical influences. With plunging deep-sea blues we carry through the spectrum of blues that are so popular of 2010 and explore them through fluid fabrics. Hot shades such as orange, pink and yellow excite the palette, while green and blue calm it down sublimely! With such scope for a positive season ahead, I think that it is only fair that I tempt you with a small taste of what I, and my team, have been designing, from the cocktail of delightful shades that flavour autumn and the following season, soon to be served in our brand new collection!
