The whole Richard Designs team is in high gear preparing for this September’s BBEH. The exquisite NIEVE Collection is of no exception and will be premiering its new collection for Spring/Summer 2011 at show. Our head-designer Kelly has written a piece on the influences for the next collection which you can read on the NIEVE section of the website here.

Nieve SS2011 Romantic Vintage

The NIEVE Designer Collection of accessories for Spring, Summer 2011, is inspired by two enchanting stories that illustrate the mood for the approaching season: Oriental Garden and Romantic Vintage. See the inspiration here.

Perfect accessories for destination weddings

Friday, May 7th, 2010

Destination weddings are becoming increasingly popular. Destination Weddings and Honeymoons Magazine estimate the market has grown by 400% in the last 10 years. In fact 1 in 5 US couples is said to now marry abroad. While celebrity influence has been cited as an significant factor in this growth, the intimacy with close family and friends at a smaller event abroad is also a big attraction.

Following these trend patterns, we have identified with Brides opting for the sometimes easier and less fussy destination wedding.  Many wedding gown designers have answered this trend by designing ranges that are much lighter, less formal and free flowing for the Bride abroad.

Flower comb F183

With this in mind we have taken the theme of floral forms a step further with the inclusion or a large selection of accessories designed specifically for the more tropical easy-going mood of this type of wedding.  Above you can see a F183 fascinator which is proving extremely popular; a handmade silk flower which is complemented wonderfully with sparkling set-stone crystals. The F116 fascinator below is an illustration of how touches of colour and a variety of sizes and shapes make this flower arrangement collection distinctly destination! The petals in this flower are handmade from Swarovski crystal fabric, which is covered in hundreds of tiny crystals which will shimmer beautifully in the sun.

A fantastic Moda show Spring 2010

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Many thanks to everyone who came to visit us at Moda a week ago; the show was a great success and we were really pleased to see some familiar faces; and some new one’s too! Our stand looked great as you can see below and it was certainly one of the more colourful. Our hats and fascinators, which are perfect for the mother of the bride or general occasionwear, went down extremely well.

Just in case you missed out on viewing our stunning new hats and fascinators, below are a selection of some of the most popular. You can see even more pictures on the Boutique site here.

FQ 109 Fascinator in Giraffe, Almond and Pewter

This FQ109 fascinator in Giraffe, Almond and Pewter was a real hit at the show. We were especially pleased the new print-style sinamay was so popular; we work hard at sourcing the best quality products and latest colours for the Boutique Collection.

BM52H Hat in New Aqua

The BM52H hat shown above was one of the most popular hats at the Moda show, shown in aqua here, it is of course available in a huge variety of colours and, if required we can match it exactly to your customer’s outfit. Our innovative use of sinamay means we can achieve fantastic tonal colours which provides almost limitless variations!

One-off exhibition hat

This dazzling one-off hat also drew the crowds. Made in a deep black, with hundreds of Swarovski crystals, it looked stunning under the lights. Our milliners loved making it and it is wonderful to show off their talents.

New hats and fascinators for 2010

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Our team of milliners have been working tirelessly to develop cutting-edge designs to add to the Boutique Collection by Richard Designs.

It takes a long time to develop something truly memorable but the ideas our talented team have developed for this season are truly ground-breaking and really turn the idea of hats on their head! This BM 141H is a double-brimmed hat, it provides a striking look, which is sure to get attention.

Hat BM141H

Following on from the theme of doubling-up components of the hat the BM152H below has, in effect, a split-brim. This provides a stunning look from both the back and the front. This hat is especially impressive when the vast range of colours available are considered; the combinations are endless and it is sure to match any outfit you are wearing.

Hat BM152H

Remember, all of our hats and fascinators are individually made to order, which means that we can tailor your hat to complement your look. Our renowned milliners have also developed a unique take on sinamay; by ‘blending’ various types and colours, we can provide a tonal effect unavailable elsewhere, this provides even more shades of in-season colours.

Hat BM148H

Creating every hat by hand, here in the UK, gives us total control over its quality and from start to finish, every process is aimed at serving the customer’s needs; our 4x layering of sinamay and our attention to detail means we have the best quality hats anywhere. If you are a trade customer and you would like to know more about stocking our products, please contact us for more information. Our team are also happy to answer any questions from non-trade customers and point you in the direction of your local stockist.

We warmly welcome you to stand WN31 at Moda UK 21st-23rd February

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

This season we have gone ‘wild’ with our designs! Maintaining our reputation for working with the trends of the approaching season, we have introduced three new sinemay prints, leopard, giraffe and zebra. Touches of ‘animal print’ inspired feathers add the subtle effect required to complement the fashion-forward garments of next season, while there are some showstoppers that will wow crowds at Ascot!

BM151HIn keeping with our move towards more innovative styles, we have worked to create some very unusual ‘twin brim’ hats that are extraordinary in their construction. The small twin brim seen here is a quirky and contemporary take on the small brim and is remarkably versatile. New shapes also include a Medium Breton, which is a slightly smaller brim and easier to wear. We also have a medium wave for those who like a shaped brim, but require something a little more understated.

New Fascinators

Fascinators are innovative, yet commercial and include the forms of sinamay disc shapes that are very popular at present along with linear feather focal pieces. Wired components add sparkle to a simple, yet classic designs and our clever use of millinery materials allow silk to transform into fluid structures that maintain their shape.

New Colours

In keeping a fresh colour palette has been introduced to complement the current and foreseen season with the introduction of royal blue, oasis green, citron, forest, smoke grey, plum, raspberry, heather and indigo. Not forgetting the tribal themed shades of zebra (a stone, pewter, black and white mix), giraffe (a mix of latté, almond, mushroom and mink), and leopard (a pale gold, pewter and honey combination).

Moda 2010

As usual we will be exhibiting at the Moda show in Birmingham’s NEC, where trade customers can see all of our latest designs and talk to our sales representatives and designers about your needs.
