Bestselling Tiaras, Veils & Jewellery from the launch of the new collection at Harrogate

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

The Product Galleries have been updated with new collection pieces! See them here:

Today we are sharing with you the bestselling new veils, tiaras and jewellery from the BBEH in September.

The new collection was such a hit at the show, with both existing and new customers being drawn in by the beautiful Victorian displays. You were literally transported to a Victorian boudoir on Stand M33, as dressing tables and wardrobes bursting with treasures were waiting to be explored.

The new collection’s Victorian-Inspired theme was extremely popular, working well with current gown trends. Thank you for all of your feedback on the new collection. If you haven’t yet let us know your thoughts and would like to, just email us at info@richarddesigns.co.uk, give us a call on 01353 661600 or leave a comment at the end of this post. We always listen and act upon the feedback from our customers – it is invaluable to us, so thank you! To find out more about the inspiration of the new collection, see our current trends page.

But now let’s see the bestselling new styles. These are the must-have items so if you missed them at the show or couldn’t make it to Harrogate at all, make sure to call Jennifer and make an appointment with Ben or John who can show you the collection in your own shop (with no obligation to buy and no minimums!)

Bestselling Bridal Fascinators, Jewelry, Shrugs and Petticoats at the National Bridal Market, Chicago 2011

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Did you miss the recap of the bestselling Veils and Tiaras from the National Bridal Market, Chicago? See it here.

As promised, we are back today revealing the most popular bridal fascinators, jewelry, shrugs and petticoats from our visit to the Chicago show last month. Even more orders have gone out this week to our new and existing customers and we hope that you like the new samples. Of course if you have any questions or feedback, Maria is always available on the phone (888 858 3457 toll-free) or email (maria@richarddesigns.co.uk) for a chat.

Now for the bestsellers…

Bridal Fascinators

Fascinator style F224 oozes sophistication and class. Simple yet striking the feather and filigree detail that sits on the side is finished off perfectly with a delicate birdcage veil.

F224 Ivory Fascinator

The FQ40 has been popular for several seasons, so it was no wonder people snapped it up at the Bridal Market. Delicate feathers and complementing crystals make this a classic style for brides and mother of the bride.

FQ40 Pebble Fascinator

The F225 is a really sweet style. The spotted tulle bird cage veil would work really well with a 50s style dress and the glitzy disc and bouncy flowers make this a fun piece to wear. Of course this style, as with all of the fascinators, can be made in different colours for different occasions.

F225 Ivory Fascinator with birdcage veil

Like the F224, the F227 is small and easy to wear. The striking silver detail on the base works well with many current gowns and the feather flower is also on-trend.

Jewelry

The P583 necklace, earring and bracelet set is part of the Victorian Inspired collection, and combines many of the key influences of the era. Laces, cameos, sequins, filigrees and buttons have been layered by our designers and then finished off with a twist of pearl and crystal strands.

Victorian Inspired Bridal Necklace P583

The P538 jewelry set was released in March this year, and caters for the bride who wants to make a statement with her jewelry. Elaborate twists of various sized pearls and crystals make up this set.

P538 Silver Ivory Jewelry Set

P584 is similar to the P583 but is simpler and makes a feature of the Swarovski pearls at the neckline. The necklace ties together with a soft silver ribbon for an extra touch of texture and glamour.

Victorian Inspired Necklace P584

The cuff bracelet P575B is a simple way to make a statement at your wedding. The magnetic clasp means it is easy to dress your brides in the shop as it simply snaps shut – no fiddling required!

Blue Ribbon Petticoats & Shrugs

The Bridal Market was the first time we showed our range of Blue Ribbon Petticoats & Shrugs to our US customers and we are pleased to say that you all loved them! Their femininity, high quality finish and sensitive design means they were a real hit!

The fishtail petticoat BR11 not only has three layers of net but also incorporates one hoop to make it easy to walk on your wedding day.

Fishtail Petticoat BR 11

The simplest style, the a-line BR1 has two hoops and a frill, and will work with many dresses.

A-line Petticoat BR1

BR8 is a stunning style perfect for gowns that are shaped at the hips and flare at the hem. It also has a hoop to keep the net away from your legs.

Flared Petticoat BR8

The most popular shrug at the Bridal Market was the SH1-9 which is a short sleeved style with fine tulle, flowers and diamante. This shrug can be made in a wide selection of colours to match any gown.

All Blue Ribbon petticoats and shrugs come with a small blue bow sewn into the design for your ‘something blue’!

Visit M33 for the Biggest and Best Selection of Accessories at BBEH

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

We welcome you to join us in the world of Victoriana as we unveil our latest collection:

The cultural events, artistic movements and social fashions of the Victorian era influenced more areas of our lives than many of us are aware of. For this collection we have immersed ourselves into a historical ocean of inspiration, looking at the modest, moral and majestic. Modesty was key to the Victorian look, it was a time when a virtuous bride always turned out in her finest for all occasions, not least her wedding day, when lace, pearls, brooches and ruffles were a requirement and indulgence was the dress code!

Victorian Inspired Accessories by Richard Designs

‘Victorian Sonnets and Floral Bonnets’

This Victorian inspired collection has been carefully created to combine vintage style elements, inspired by the Victorian era with a contemporary use of fresh ivory lace and bright Swarovski crystals.

‘Heirloom Treasures and Lacy Pleasures’

This concept takes antique jewellery and Victorian costume details and modifies them into a fashionable product for the contemporary market. It demonstrates the practice of breaking down the elements of historic costume and turning them into a modern interpretation of Victorian fashion.

Elements of nature that were so popular in Victorian Design are captured within the detail of designs throughout our collections. Leaves, flowers, birds and all things natural have inspired our designers, you will see frothy gathered handmade lace, encrusted diamanté and set stone details with cameo elements echoing designs of the past. Fancy cuffs are replacing dainty bracelets for the contemporary Victoriana look.

Stand M33 is more than just a place to look and buy, it is a whole experience. You will be transported to the Victorian era, with beautiful furniture, luxurious fabrics and stunning displays. All are welcome to visit the Richard Designs stand from 11th –13th September at the BBEH in Harrogate.

Dress Your Dress: Alice Temperly’s Long Honeysuckle Dress

Centre Right Richard Designs Tiara TR1215A, Middle Top Richard Designs Tiara TR1226A, Richard Designs Bracelet and Earrings P515B, Left Shoes Benjamin Adams. Bottom Left Richard designs Tiara TR1228A. Dress Alice Temperly (Long Honeysuckle Dress). Top left, Top right and bottom right images from thisisglamorous.com.

This exquisite dress by Alice Temperly is beautifully elegant, the French lace and detailed embellishment using bugle beads and sequins creates a unique and stylish feel to the gown. To complement this gown an intricate side spray tiara would work perfectly, highlighting the sparkle within the embellishment. Choosing a headdress and jewellery with a hint of silver and antique silver will enhance the historic regency qualities of the dress while still creating a modern look. These eye-catching shoes by Benjamin Adams encrusted with Swarovski crystal finish the look perfectly, adding a unique fairytale feel. To create an aura which compliments this beautiful gown, I’ve included a crystal chandelier and gilded mirror, which could be included in the reception venue to complement the look of a stylised vintage glamour bride.

Our choice of accessories for Zara Phillips

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

With only just over a week to go until Zara Philips and Mike Tindall tie the knot in Edinburgh, we take a look at accessories perfect for the third Royal Wedding of the year.

Zara Phillips Mike Tindall

Zara and her rugby captain husband-to-be Mike have kept everything about their wedding low-key so far. It is often reported that despite being the Queen’s grandchildren, Zara and her brother Peter Phillips are down to earth and like to live relatively private lives. We think that she therefore will choose understated, elegant accessories.

A traditional tiara is the norm for a royal wedding, and this understated silver tiara TR1311A would be perfect for Zara.

Tiara TR1311A

If she prefers to break from tradition this NIEVE side tiara NT124A would be perfect with its striking silver Swarovski crystals.

NIEVE Side Tiara NT124A

If we had to choose a veil for Zara, it would be simple, elegant and in a long length. This C297A with scalloped cord edge is a timeless choice.

Wedding veil C297A

or for a very pretty look, this C308B with embroidered detail would be perfect.

Wedding veil C308B

Or perhaps she’ll choose lace like The Duchess of Cambridge and her sister in law Autumn Kelly did, in which case the C340C would be a light and delicate choice.

Lace wedding veil C340C

Of course, Zara often likes to make a statement with her clothes, especially her hats and fascinators, so perhaps she will choose some bridal millinery such as those seen on the BBEH catwalk show in March

BBEH Catwalk Show

We can’t wait to see what Zara will choose to wear for her wedding on 30th July. One thing that is clear is that it will be a special, family orientated day for the happy couple. What would you choose for Zara to wear for her wedding?

We’ll be back after the wedding to round up the veil, tiara and jewellery that Zara choses, and of course the hats that the guests wear!
