The new collection was such a hit at the show, with both existing and new customers being drawn in by the beautiful Victorian displays. You were literally transported to a Victorian boudoir on Stand M33, as dressing tables and wardrobes bursting with treasures were waiting to be explored.

The four day show was a real joy for us to attend. With lots of international and US designers and manufacturers showing, we soaked up the fashions and style of American Brides. Everyone was so welcoming and we look forward to returning next year!

So now what you’ve been waiting for…the bestsellers from the show. Un-missable information if you are a US bridal retailer and couldn’t make it to the show!

Veils

First off, the veils. The C325C was very popular at the show. Its scalloped edge and diamante detail sections all around the edge makes this veil easy to match with any gown, adding subtle sparkle.

The show stopping C360A is part of our Victorian Inspired collection. This veil has two combs, which can be placed separately to create a bouffant effect.

The beautiful silver button detailing finishes off the veil perfectly.

The C310A was also popular, with some of you asking for it with a detachable train – perfect for a bride who wants to wear a long veil for the ceremony and a shorter veil in the evening. The diamante detail on the C310A is beautiful and matches many silver beaded areas of current gown styles, and the drop on each scallop adds even more sparkle.

And last but not least, the Royal Wedding Inspired C353C was, not surprisingly, also very popular. Inspired by the lace applique and silk wedding veil that the Duchess of Cambridge wore at her wedding to Prince William, this veil is bordered with beautiful French lace, hand applied here in the UK.

The side tiara TR1023A is perfect for a bride who wants on-trend headwear that is easy to wear yet makes a statement, no wonder it was so popular at the show!

The TR1361A is beautifully delicate and textured with layers of fabrics, crystals and pearls.

For those who want a softer look, the TR1036A is a great twist on a side tiara. Delicate feathers and silver crystals sit on the side of a head for a modern touch. This headdress can also be made in many different colours for bridesmaids or mother of the bride!

The cultural events, artistic movements and social fashions of the Victorian era influenced more areas of our lives than many of us are aware of. For this collection we have immersed ourselves into a historical ocean of inspiration, looking at the modest, moral and majestic. Modesty was key to the Victorian look, it was a time when a virtuous bride always turned out in her finest for all occasions, not least her wedding day, when lace, pearls, brooches and ruffles were a requirement and indulgence was the dress code!

We are pleased to announce that out tiaras and headdresses will be featured on the catwalks at BBEH this September in the Bridal Preview Fashion Show. It is a great opportunity to see how the tiaras work with next season’s dress trends, and how best to wear some of the more unusual pieces.

The Bridal Preview will be held twice a day, each day of the show at the following times:

There will be a drinks reception before the 6:30pm showing on Sunday, which the Richard Designs team will be attending. It would be lovely to see you there!

This exquisite dress by Alice Temperly is beautifully elegant, the French lace and detailed embellishment using bugle beads and sequins creates a unique and stylish feel to the gown. To complement this gown an intricate side spray tiara would work perfectly, highlighting the sparkle within the embellishment. Choosing a headdress and jewellery with a hint of silver and antique silver will enhance the historic regency qualities of the dress while still creating a modern look. These eye-catching shoes by Benjamin Adams encrusted with Swarovski crystal finish the look perfectly, adding a unique fairytale feel. To create an aura which compliments this beautiful gown, I’ve included a crystal chandelier and gilded mirror, which could be included in the reception venue to complement the look of a stylised vintage glamour bride.

Hello everyone!

Another month has passed so quickly, with two big shows just around the corner!

The first of these is MODA, where we will be exhibiting our exciting new collection of Boutique hats and fascinators on Stand G14. It’s now less than one month away so look out for blogs and sneak peaks into the new collection over the coming weeks! Then, just a little further off (11 – 13 September), is BBEH where we will be on our usual stand M33.

However for now I’d like to talk about the impact that the royal wedding between Catherine Middleton and Prince William has had on the industry. The wedding itself was such a magnificent occasion. My family and I all admired her outfit, the beauty of the Cathedral, and of course her elegant accessories. These have influenced our beautiful Royal wedding inspired collection of tiaras and veils, which you can see here. The state occasion seemed to give the whole country a boost, and the interest in bridal wear increased sharply over the royal wedding weekend. Our sales certainly suddenly increased following the wedding, and I am sure shops will have seen the same increased level of interest.

As you can see we have created several tiaras and veils, although I have found these two to be the best selling across the whole of the UK

I believe that this is because they are the closest likeness to Catherine’s traditional shaped Cartier diamond tiara and soft silk lace wedding veil. There is a strong feeling across the whole of the UK that in the short term brides will be looking to emulate her style, if not seek inspiration from her entire look. As talk of the royal wedding continues in current bridal magazines and websites we can see that this is the case, but I think that it is too soon to tell whether her style of accessories will have a long lasting effect on the buying patterns of brides. Perhaps we will see the full effect of Catherine’s influence in next year’s brides. What do you think?

Although it is too early to tell whether brides will aspire to dress as Catherine did on her wedding day, I feel that she has given us two important points to note. Firstly she has given the already re-surging lace dress a massive boost by combining it with a full skirt, cinched in waist and long lace sleeved shrug (a style that we haven’t seen for a few years!). This has brought this style much further into the public’s consciousness. Secondly, and of much greater importance, it has given us a new style icon. She is clearly a very confident young woman with an understated elegance that so many people can identify with, which is bound to influence both the fashion and the wedding industry for many years to come.

I have really enjoyed the past month on the road, especially discussing Catherine’s influence with the customers I’ve visited. Zara and her rugby captain husband-to-be Mike have kept everything about their wedding low-key so far. It is often reported that despite being the Queen’s grandchildren, Zara and her brother Peter Phillips are down to earth and like to live relatively private lives. We think that she therefore will choose understated, elegant accessories.

A traditional tiara is the norm for a royal wedding, and this understated silver tiara TR1311A would be perfect for Zara.

If she prefers to break from tradition this NIEVE side tiara NT124A would be perfect with its striking silver Swarovski crystals.

If we had to choose a veil for Zara, it would be simple, elegant and in a long length. This C297A with scalloped cord edge is a timeless choice.

or for a very pretty look, this C308B with embroidered detail would be perfect.

Or perhaps she’ll choose lace like The Duchess of Cambridge and her sister in law Autumn Kelly did, in which case the C340C would be a light and delicate choice.

Of course, Zara often likes to make a statement with her clothes, especially her hats and fascinators, so perhaps she will choose some bridal millinery such as those seen on the BBEH catwalk show in March

We can’t wait to see what Zara will choose to wear for her wedding on 30th July. One thing that is clear is that it will be a special, family orientated day for the happy couple. What would you choose for Zara to wear for her wedding?

We have been in wedding heaven, with so many new trends coming to light and traditions being broken by royals and celebrities alike.

Today, we show you the stunning pictures of beautiful bride Charlene Wittstock and her Prince, Albert.

The royal celebrations lasted three days, with a civil ceremony on Friday 1st July and a religious ceremony on Saturday 2nd.

Charlene wore a stunning pale blue jumpsuit with a matching jacket for the short civil ceremony. Simple silver stud earrings completed the elegant ensemble, which was a collaboration of Charlene and designer Karl Lagerfeld.

For the evening celebrations, Charlene dropped the jacket and earrings and added a stunning necklace of diamonds and pearls. Once her jacket was removed, we can see that the top of the jumpsuit was overlaid with beautiful lace.

The next day was the one we had been waiting for, and the beautiful Charlene did not disappoint. Walking down the aisle with her father, Charlene wore a gown designed by Georgio Armani. It was a beautifully elegant creation of duchess silk embroidered with platinum coated thread, Swarovski crystals and mother of pearl.

The embroidery started at the base of her gown and continued to the top, just adding to her perfect figure.

She chose to wear the veil pinned into the top of her chignon, which created the most beautiful halo effect when she wore the blusher over her face.

Charlene’s hair piece was perfect for a modern princess. Beautiful silver flower detail that wrapped around her chignon and worked well with her veil.

For the finale of the long weekend, Charlene wore a stunning Armani Prive dress, with a four tiered skirt and crystal detail.

She finished off the look with another beautiful hairpiece – a side spray diamond tiara, not unlike our crystal TR1097A side spray

Get Charlene’s Look

Charlene’s veil was stunning in its simplicity. It was finished with a simple beaded edge, very similar to our C204C veil which is finished with Swarovski crystals.

Her hairpiece for the religious ceremony consisted of silver and sparkles which fitted around her chignon. Try a TR1145A or TR1223A to achieve a similar look. Practice with your hairdresser until you are happy with the effect.
