Romeo & Juliet: A Sparkling Romance
The new collection takes its inspiration from the story of Romeo and Juliet.
Romance is a inspiring concept, with insights from Italian culture and architecture also taking a role. The sub-theme takes its inspiration from the masquerade ball within Romeo and Juliet, adding drama and a lavish, luxurious edge.
We see a new direction within the fashions of wedding dresses, with floaty, dream-like skirts taking a lead role, supported by fuller ball-gowns. Hence our new collection includes a prominence of Juliet sleeves, and Juliet cap veils, both inspired by the lead character in the play.
With the rising trend for outdoor weddings, there is a provincial, rustic feel to the collections, which stems from the outdoors in Italy. Features include olive vines with a organic edge.
Although ivory is still prominent, there is a strong use of touches of colour from gown designers, most notably blush pink and lilac, and this is reflected in our accessories collection.
We have incorporated many features in our designs to reflect the romantic, Italian culture. From delicate, detailed lace to lavish aged metal details, with intricate modern upright tiaras and floaty, soft side pieces. Veils include a new incorporation of lace, with lots of detail around the face, and the Juliet cap being the star.
Texture is still key, with dress designers incorporating oversized 3D flowers, tiered skirts, sequins and an abundance of point d'esprit and needlepoint lace. Upright tiaras have texture and detail without being too full, and side pieces incorporate silks and laces for texture without weight. Our designers have stepped outside the usual boundaries, and have incorporated fabrics and components which wouldn't usually be combined. This results in a beautiful, unique look.
To tie in with the floaty skirts and bohemian touches to gowns, we have created a few side headdresses with draping diamantes for a really glamorous feel.
