Dress your Dress: Jenny Packham’s Freesia

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

Today our assistant designer Anna shows you her romantic mood board with inspiration on accessorising Jenny Packham’s Freesia gown. See more of Anna’s blogs here.

Jenny Packham Freesia

I adore this beautifully elegant dress (FREESIA) from Jenny Packham S/S 2013 range. The asymmetric shoulder and minimal detail is a perfect combination of modern elegance and delicate vintage design. To compliment this dress choose subtle accessories with vintage brooch details. A textured side spray tiara with a sweeping side bun will balance out this asymmetric design beautifully. A statement bracelet will add sparkle without overshadowing the waist and shoulder detail. The drape of this dress suggests an elegant wedding with soft colours and details. Experiment with tones of white, ivory and soft pink to create a tranquil feminine palette.

Bottom Left Richard designs Tiara TR1228A. Dress Alice Temperly (Long Honeysuckle Dress). Top left, Top right and bottom right images from thisisglamorous.com.

This exquisite dress by Alice Temperly is beautifully elegant, the French lace and detailed embellishment using bugle beads and sequins creates a unique and stylish feel to the gown. To complement this gown an intricate side spray tiara would work perfectly, highlighting the sparkle within the embellishment. Choosing a headdress and jewellery with a hint of silver and antique silver will enhance the historic regency qualities of the dress while still creating a modern look. These eye-catching shoes by Benjamin Adams encrusted with Swarovski crystal finish the look perfectly, adding a unique fairytale feel. To create an aura which compliments this beautiful gown, I’ve included a crystal chandelier and gilded mirror, which could be included in the reception venue to complement the look of a stylised vintage glamour bride.

Bottom centre traditional tiara design cream rose pearl and Comet crystal TR1246A. Middle right, ivory flowers mini comb set of three CP50, all Richard Designs. Embellished bodice wedding dress with ruffled skirt Justin Alexander.

This detailed dress design by Justin Alexander exudes luxury and style. The exquisite detail of the embellished bodice, smooth coloured sash and ruffled skirt create a delightful combination of tactile textures, which can be highlighted by the use of accessories. Accentuate the coloured sash by wearing a tiara with a subtle hint of colour; include this also within your bridal bouquet, jewellery and shoes. The small dainty hair combs with Comet crystal and Cream rose pearl enhance the coloured crystal detail on the bodice, and the delicate flower mimics the soft ruffles of the skirt and compliments the flower detail on the bodice.

Dress your Dress: Justin Alexander 8557

Friday, May 13th, 2011

Accessories such as veils, tiaras and jewellery complete your wedding gown and give you that true bridal look. Anna has put together a perfect wedding outfit for you, with accessories to match the elegant & feminine Justin Alexander gown style 8557.

The delicate detailing of the lace on this beautiful dress design from Justin Alexander would be perfectly complemented with dainty accessories. Pearl and minimal crystal complements the vintage, yet contemporary feel of this gown without overpowering the embellished waist and delicate sweet-heart neckline.  A fine lace edge ensures a soft, floating veil that does not compete with the detailed all over lace on the gown, but instead enhances its floral shapes. The pearl and crystal details on the tiara and headband work seamlessly with the vintage colouring of the dress, with the shape of the tiara (TR1196A top left) mimicking the flower detail on the dress. Finish off with a lace tied bouquet of blush roses for a beautifully feminine bridal look!

Guest Blog: Introducing our Design Assistant Anna

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

This guest blog comes from our Design Assistant Anna. Many of you will have met Anna at the BBEH and Moda shows and will have seen her great enthusiasm for her role at Richard Designs! Hi everyone!

I would just like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you all and talk briefly about my role here at Richard designs. I have always had a keen eye for feminine details and love designing bridal accessories as my design work is soft and delicate in colour and in form. I adore all things beautiful!

Within my role as Design Assistant I support Kelly our Head Designer in all aspects of the design process. I assist with trend and inspirational research, sourcing information and developing mood boards. I contribute to the main Richard Designs collections, Boutique and Nieve, designing for all brands. Alongside my design role I also assist with sourcing new components, and attend both Moda and BBEH shows.

I enjoy the run up to both shows, in particular BBEH. In the last March show we worked hard to create two themes ‘Wedding in Wonderland’ and  ‘Fishtail fantasies and pearly persuasions’. Both themes influenced our design development process. Within the Boutique Collection I love experimenting with fabric manipulation and using our wide range of colourful silks. I adore the intricate detailing within the RD collection, and enjoy using crystal and vintage style filigrees to create unique and fashionable designs.

I am constantly being inspired and love nothing more then curling up with Vogue and looking at designers’ latest creations! My favourite designers have to be Monique L’huillier, Jenny Packham, Amanda Wakely and Elie Saab to name a few. Defiantly a girly girl, I enjoy shopping and I am always inspired by high street as well as couture fashions. Nature, interior design and fashion photography interest me greatly. I enjoy the process of exploring how elements taken from other areas of design can be used within bridal wear.

This is just a small insight into my interests and role at Richard Designs. I really enjoy chatting to you all at our shows, finding out about your shops and which styles you love.  I look forward to seeing you all again in the near future!
