Our choice of accessories for Zara Phillips

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

With only just over a week to go until Zara Philips and Mike Tindall tie the knot in Edinburgh, we take a look at accessories perfect for the third Royal Wedding of the year.

Zara Phillips Mike Tindall

Zara and her rugby captain husband-to-be Mike have kept everything about their wedding low-key so far. It is often reported that despite being the Queen’s grandchildren, Zara and her brother Peter Phillips are down to earth and like to live relatively private lives. We think that she therefore will choose understated, elegant accessories.

A traditional tiara is the norm for a royal wedding, and this understated silver tiara TR1311A would be perfect for Zara.

If she prefers to break from tradition this NIEVE side tiara NT124A would be perfect with its striking silver Swarovski crystals.

If we had to choose a veil for Zara, it would be simple, elegant and in a long length. This C297A with scalloped cord edge is a timeless choice.

or for a very pretty look, this C308B with embroidered detail would be perfect.

Or perhaps she’ll choose lace like The Duchess of Cambridge and her sister in law Autumn Kelly did, in which case the C340C would be a light and delicate choice.

Of course, Zara often likes to make a statement with her clothes, especially her hats and fascinators, so perhaps she will choose some bridal millinery such as those seen on the BBEH catwalk show in March

We can’t wait to see what Zara will choose to wear for her wedding on 30th July. One thing that is clear is that it will be a special, family orientated day for the happy couple. What would you choose for Zara to wear for her wedding?

We’ll be back after the wedding to round up the veil, tiara and jewellery that Zara choses, and of course the hats that the guests wear!

Princess Charlene Wittstock’s Wedding Veil: The Details

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

Before we start discussing the beautiful Princess Charlene’s wedding veil, have you seen our new Celebrity Weddings page? You can find information and pictures on all the recent celebrity weddings (including how to get their looks!) on this one page.

We have been asked what it is about Charlene Wittstock’s wedding veil that made it look so spectacular at her wedding to Prince Albert of Monaco, so today we share more details.

Charlene’s veil was a two-tier tulle creation with a simple beaded edge.

The top tier, or blusher, was longer than on a standard veil, which you can see in this picture here.

When the blusher is over Charlene’s face, it reaches beyond her hands, which considering it is already put quite far back on her head, shows just how long the blusher really is. A standard blusher is around 30” long, and would fall just above the waist if worn at the back of the head, but we expect that Charlene’s was around 45” long.

Of course as all of our veils are hand made to order, we can make them to any size you would like, so if you would like your veil to have a longer blusher then just let the bridal shop know when you make your order.

As mentioned, Charlene wore the veil further back below the crown of her head, so that it was secured just above her chignon. This created this beautiful halo effect when Charlene wore the blusher over her face, which in our opinion makes her a truly stunning bride.

The decoration on Charlene’s veil was very simple but effective. It allowed the long, flowing tulle to make up the bulk of the veil, meaning that the focus was on that beautiful shrouded effect.

Although Charlene is a royal bride, with a princess’s bank balance, her veil would be ideal for a bride who wants to look like a princess but doesn’t want to go over budget. The simple decoration brings the price down, and the long fine tulle gives a princess bride effect. A fantastic option for a bride who wants to achieve this effect would be a Richard Designs style C204C, with tiny Swarovski crystals sewn around the edge, in a 126” or 144” size, and with a longer blusher if you prefer.

The royal celebrations lasted three days, with a civil ceremony on Friday 1st July and a religious ceremony on Saturday 2nd.

Charlene wore a stunning pale blue jumpsuit with a matching jacket for the short civil ceremony. Simple silver stud earrings completed the elegant ensemble, which was a collaboration of Charlene and designer Karl Lagerfeld.

For the evening celebrations, Charlene dropped the jacket and earrings and added a stunning necklace of diamonds and pearls. Once her jacket was removed, we can see that the top of the jumpsuit was overlaid with beautiful lace.

The next day was the one we had been waiting for, and the beautiful Charlene did not disappoint. Walking down the aisle with her father, Charlene wore a gown designed by Georgio Armani. It was a beautifully elegant creation of duchess silk embroidered with platinum coated thread, Swarovski crystals and mother of pearl.

The embroidery started at the base of her gown and continued to the top, just adding to her perfect figure.

She chose to wear the veil pinned into the top of her chignon, which created the most beautiful halo effect when she wore the blusher over her face.

Charlene’s hair piece was perfect for a modern princess. Beautiful silver flower detail that wrapped around her chignon and worked well with her veil.

Charlene’s veil was stunning in its simplicity. It was finished with a simple beaded edge, very similar to our C204C veil which is finished with Swarovski crystals.

Her hairpiece for the religious ceremony consisted of silver and sparkles which fitted around her chignon. Try a TR1145A or TR1223A to achieve a similar look. Practice with your hairdresser until you are happy with the effect.

Model Kate Moss marries Jamie Hince in the Cotswolds

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

We couldn’t wait to see what Kate Moss chose to wear for her wedding to Rock guitarist Jamie Hince on Friday 1st July. Of course when the first pictures emerged we weren’t disappointed! Kate and Jamie look so happy in all of their pictures and from the sounds of it they had their dream day.

Kate walked down the aisle in a beautiful John Galliano vintage style gown, which showed off her figure and her style perfectly.

Kate chose a 1920’s style veil (similar to Lily Allen’s last month) to keep in with her 1920’s vintage diamond engagement ring chosen by Jamie.

We all know that the vintage trend is rife right now, and Kate effortlessly carried off the vintage look, with a touch of rock star thrown in!

Jamie wore a light blue Stefano Pilati for YSL suit which suited his rock lifestyle, finished off with a fun pair of sunglasses.

The groom may not have worn a traditional outfit, but Kate still had her something blue – a pair of blue insoles in her custom designed shoes!

Now let’s get onto the star of the show – the wedding veil! Kate’s veil looked perfect with her gown. Secured to her headband with no gather at the top, the cap-style was oh so vintage. The richly embroidered lace edge and scattering of diamantes matched the diamante detail on her shimmering dress. It was the perfect example of how a wedding veil can enhance, not hide a gown.

Kate showed how it can still be rock and roll to keep with tradition and wore the blusher over her face before the marriage.

The NIEVE Couture collection has a similar veil to the one Kate Moss wore at her wedding. It is style number NV134 and has a beautiful beaded edge and gathering at the sides of the head – perfect for a 1920’s inspired wedding!

There is only one phrase to describe this newly wed couple – utterly cool. We hope that their marriage lasts the test of time – from the looks of the grins on their faces they are happy to be finally wed!

Celebrity Weddings Galore!

Friday, July 1st, 2011

Wow what a couple of months it has been for celebrities tying the knot. Last week we talked about Lily Allen’s gorgeous wedding to husband Sam Cooper. This week, there are three high-profile weddings in the public eye!

Yesterday footballer Peter Crouch married model and presenter Abbey Clancy in Leicestershire. Abbey kept it simple with a fishtail gown by Giles Deacon, and long drop earrings. She chose to wear her hair in soft, tousled waves.

Today, Kate Moss marries her guitarist fiancé Jamie Hince in a long-awaited ceremony this afternoon. As arguably one of the biggest fashion icons in the world, there has been much discussion surrounding Kate’s choice of wedding dress. It is to be made by former Dior designer John Galliano, and we expect that it will be a perfect fit to Kate’s personality.

Here they are at their rehearsal dinner last night:

But the celebrations don’t stop there. This weekend Prince Albert of Monaco will marry Charlene Wittstock in a two-day long celebration at Palais Princier in Monaco.

Following the Duchess of Cambridge Catherine Middleton’s gown choice and its resemblance to that of Grace Kelly (Prince Albert’s mother), we are all anxious to see the gown the beautiful Charlene has chosen for her special day.

Come back next week as we will be taking a closer look at the accessories that Abbey Clancy, Kate Moss and Charlene Wittstock wore at their weddings.
