Michelle & Jack’s Winter Wonderland Wedding

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

Congratulations to our bride Michelle and her new husband Jack! The couple were married on 14th December in a sponsored ceremony. Instead of spending thousands on a wedding, the couple chose to ask wedding suppliers for donations from the flowers to the dress, and instead donated the money they would have spent to Keech Hospice.

Michelle & Jack's Wedding

We were pleased to be approached by Michelle to supply her wedding veil, tiara and petticoat which she coordinated perfectly with her dress!

Michelle wore:

Silver crystal side tiara TR1025A Silver diamante side tiara TR1025A
NV106 Lace Veil NIEVE lace appliqué veil NV106
Flared Petticoat BR8 Flared petticoat BR8

Here’s Michelle’s description of the day:

The day was absolutely amazing even though it was one of the wettest days on records!

My dress was from Fairytale Weddings in Towcester and it made me feel like a princess! It had diamantees on the hip and lots of tuelle layers, so when chosing the veil from Richard Designs I picked out one with the matching detail. Everybody commented on how beautiful my veil was as the diamantees on the veil glistened under the light. When choosing my headdress it was a really hard choice as Richard Designs has so many to choose from! I sat down with my hairdresser Jenny Buckland and as I was going for a sixties look and feel we decided on something very chunky and also with diamantes to match with the dress. Everybody commented on how amazing my accessories were and it made me feel very special!

Michelle & Jack's Wedding

The church service was magical, it had been decorated for Christmas by the Duchess of Bedford so there were huge garlands and a 20ft Christmas tree from the Woburn Estate and lots of candles and the Reverend Steve Nuth just made the service – he was calming, warm and funny! We had a choir singing Christmas Carols and also a pianist which really made it very special – we exited the church to Mariah Carey “All I Want For Christmas is You” which had everyone cheering and clapping!

A double decker red London Bus from Aroute2hire then took all the guests back to the reception which was held at Plum Park in Towcester. On arrival guests drunk mulled wine and Jacks specially made hot toddy to the background of the pianist playing Christmas songs.

The marquee looked amazing as we had Candelabras from The Blossom Shop on every table decorated with red and white roses and over 250 candles making the atmosphere very Christmassy and magical.

Guests had traditional roast dinner including beef, salmon and chicken with all the trimmings including yorkshire pudding and stuffing! Desert was our beautiful chocolate wedding cake by Gardners Bakery, which looked so stunning we didn’t want to cut it! Helen had decorated the cake in red sugar flowers identical to those in my bouquet.

Michelle & Jack's Wedding

As well as the fudge favors, flip books and chocolate vodka I think the two stand out features for us were the photobooth by Photobooth Mania as the guests loved it and it was nice they had something special to take home and remember the day and also the fireworks to Take That Never Forget by Dynamic Fireworks – it just topped off what was already a wonderful day!

It was a great day and the best part was marrying my best friend!

Michelle & Jack's Wedding

And her husband Jack’s:

Michelle looked absolutely stunning, her dress made her look like a real-life princess, when I turned and look up the aisle she took my breath away. Not only was her dress and veil stunning her hair and makeup was perfect, she looked like a movie star – especially her diamond tiara which sparkled in the candel-lit church. The day was special because it was organised to perfection and for that I have to thank Michelle as she put in a great deal of hard work to make sure it was the best day of our lives. Michelle got up and did a speech which brought the house down as well as a lot of laughs there was also not a dry eye in the house! It was the best day of my life as I am now married to the woman I love.

Real Wedding Competition Winners

Friday, December 9th, 2011

First of all, a big thank you to all of you who entered our recent Real Wedding Photo Competition on Facebook. All of the photos were lovely, and it was great to hear your stories too! You can see all of the entries here.

Unfortunately not everyone could win so we had the very difficult decision of choosing five winners. After much deliberation, here are the five brides we chose, and their photos and stories.

Alex

Alex's Richard Designs TR1105A

“Scott and I married at Rivervale Barn in Yateley on July 24th 2011. After a week of torrential rain we thought our summer wedding wasn’t going to happen…until that morning when it was glorious sunshine all day! We had such an amazing day celebrating with all our family and friends. The food was incredible, the band were fabulous and we would love to do it all over again.

I’ve had several girls email me through facebook asking me where I got my hair piece as they have been looking for something similar. Every decision you make when planning your wedding seems massive so I feel very proud that you (and the girls who have contacted me through Facebook) like how I had my hair on the most special day of my life!!”

Alex bought her tiara from Jayne Ann’s Bridal and chose one of our most popular styles TR1105A. This tiara is usually on a band and worn on the side of the head. Alex very creatively wore the tiara at the back of her hair around her bun. We love it!

Cheryl

“We got married at the Nissi Beach Resort, in Cyprus on the first of June this year we had twenty family and friends over in Cyprus with us and we had a beautiful day, even though i did forget my music for the ceremony! After the wedding we had a BBQ buffet on the outdoor terrace and we all sat sipping cocktails until the sun went down and then we had a little boogie. It was exactly what we wanted and we couldn’t have asked for more.

I absolutely loved wearing my headdress it was gorgeous and sparkled perfectly in the Cypriot sunshine.”

Cheryl chose Fascinator F206 which she bought from our stockist I Do for her destination wedding. A fabric flower with sparkling Swarovski crystal in the centre.

Becky

“I absolutely loved my hair-piece and veil. So many comments about how different the headband was compared to your usual tiara crown.”

Becky wore a side spray tiara with crystal and pearl, style number B014M. She bought her tiara from I Do Bridal House.

Sarah-Jane

Sarah-Jane's Richard Designs C185B Veil

“The day was AMAZING! I’ve never laughed so much in my whole life or felt so incredible. My venue was just beautiful, the food delicious and everybody had a brilliant time. My favourite part…..walking down the aisle in my stunning dress and veil and seeing the look in my husband’s eyes when he first looked round, a look I’ll treasure for the rest of my life because at that moment, nothing else mattered!”

Sarah-Jane bought her veil from Wedding Belles. They entered Sarah-Jane into the competition and said: “This picture is from our bride Sarah-Jane Hewitt who got married in May and is wearing the C185b long crystal veil, she looks stunning!”

Sarah-Jane chose the C185B veil in a 126” length. The C185B has an embroidered scalloped edge with a graduating scatter of diamantes.

Princess Charlene Wittstock’s Wedding Veil: The Details

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

Before we start discussing the beautiful Princess Charlene’s wedding veil, have you seen our new Celebrity Weddings page? You can find information and pictures on all the recent celebrity weddings (including how to get their looks!) on this one page.

We have been asked what it is about Charlene Wittstock’s wedding veil that made it look so spectacular at her wedding to Prince Albert of Monaco, so today we share more details.

Charlene’s veil was a two-tier tulle creation with a simple beaded edge.

The top tier, or blusher, was longer than on a standard veil, which you can see in this picture here.

Princess Charlene Wedding Veil BlusherImage from here

When the blusher is over Charlene’s face, it reaches beyond her hands, which considering it is already put quite far back on her head, shows just how long the blusher really is. A standard blusher is around 30” long, and would fall just above the waist if worn at the back of the head, but we expect that Charlene’s was around 45” long.

Of course as all of our veils are hand made to order, we can make them to any size you would like, so if you would like your veil to have a longer blusher then just let the bridal shop know when you make your order.

As mentioned, Charlene wore the veil further back below the crown of her head, so that it was secured just above her chignon. This created this beautiful halo effect when Charlene wore the blusher over her face, which in our opinion makes her a truly stunning bride.

The decoration on Charlene’s veil was very simple but effective. It allowed the long, flowing tulle to make up the bulk of the veil, meaning that the focus was on that beautiful shrouded effect.

Although Charlene is a royal bride, with a princess’s bank balance, her veil would be ideal for a bride who wants to look like a princess but doesn’t want to go over budget. The simple decoration brings the price down, and the long fine tulle gives a princess bride effect. A fantastic option for a bride who wants to achieve this effect would be a Richard Designs style C204C, with tiny Swarovski crystals sewn around the edge, in a 126” or 144” size, and with a longer blusher if you prefer.

Prince Albert of Monaco Marries Charlene Wittstock

Friday, July 8th, 2011

We have been so spoiled this year with celebrity and Royal Weddings. Catherine Middleton & Prince William, Lily Allen & Sam Cooper, Abbey Clancy & Peter Crouch, Kate Moss & Jamie Hince and of course Prince Albert & Charlene Wittstock. Still to come we have the third Royal Wedding this year as in just a couple of weeks Zara Phillips (the Queen’s granddaughter) marries rugby player Mike Tindall.

We have been in wedding heaven, with so many new trends coming to light and traditions being broken by royals and celebrities alike.

Today, we show you the stunning pictures of beautiful bride Charlene Wittstock and her Prince, Albert.

The royal celebrations lasted three days, with a civil ceremony on Friday 1st July and a religious ceremony on Saturday 2nd.

Charlene wore a stunning pale blue jumpsuit with a matching jacket for the short civil ceremony. Simple silver stud earrings completed the elegant ensemble, which was a collaboration of Charlene and designer Karl Lagerfeld.

For the evening celebrations, Charlene dropped the jacket and earrings and added a stunning necklace of diamonds and pearls. Once her jacket was removed, we can see that the top of the jumpsuit was overlaid with beautiful lace.

The next day was the one we had been waiting for, and the beautiful Charlene did not disappoint. Walking down the aisle with her father, Charlene wore a gown designed by Georgio Armani. It was a beautifully elegant creation of duchess silk embroidered with platinum coated thread, Swarovski crystals and mother of pearl.

The embroidery started at the base of her gown and continued to the top, just adding to her perfect figure.

She chose to wear the veil pinned into the top of her chignon, which created the most beautiful halo effect when she wore the blusher over her face.

Charlene’s hair piece was perfect for a modern princess. Beautiful silver flower detail that wrapped around her chignon and worked well with her veil.

For the finale of the long weekend, Charlene wore a stunning Armani Prive dress, with a four tiered skirt and crystal detail.

Charlene’s veil was stunning in its simplicity. It was finished with a simple beaded edge, very similar to our C204C veil which is finished with Swarovski crystals.

Her hairpiece for the religious ceremony consisted of silver and sparkles which fitted around her chignon. Try a TR1145A or TR1223A to achieve a similar look. Practice with your hairdresser until you are happy with the effect.

Model Kate Moss marries Jamie Hince in the Cotswolds

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

We couldn’t wait to see what Kate Moss chose to wear for her wedding to Rock guitarist Jamie Hince on Friday 1st July. Of course when the first pictures emerged we weren’t disappointed! Kate and Jamie look so happy in all of their pictures and from the sounds of it they had their dream day.

Kate walked down the aisle in a beautiful John Galliano vintage style gown, which showed off her figure and her style perfectly.

Kate chose a 1920’s style veil (similar to Lily Allen’s last month) to keep in with her 1920’s vintage diamond engagement ring chosen by Jamie.

We all know that the vintage trend is rife right now, and Kate effortlessly carried off the vintage look, with a touch of rock star thrown in!

Jamie wore a light blue Stefano Pilati for YSL suit which suited his rock lifestyle, finished off with a fun pair of sunglasses.

The groom may not have worn a traditional outfit, but Kate still had her something blue – a pair of blue insoles in her custom designed shoes!

Now let’s get onto the star of the show – the wedding veil! Kate’s veil looked perfect with her gown. Secured to her headband with no gather at the top, the cap-style was oh so vintage. The richly embroidered lace edge and scattering of diamantes matched the diamante detail on her shimmering dress. It was the perfect example of how a wedding veil can enhance, not hide a gown.

Kate showed how it can still be rock and roll to keep with tradition and wore the blusher over her face before the marriage.

The NIEVE Couture collection has a similar veil to the one Kate Moss wore at her wedding. It is style number NV134 and has a beautiful beaded edge and gathering at the sides of the head – perfect for a 1920’s inspired wedding!

Nieve Couture Cap Veil

There is only one phrase to describe this newly wed couple – utterly cool. We hope that their marriage lasts the test of time – from the looks of the grins on their faces they are happy to be finally wed!
