Five Ways to make your Wedding Day Princess perfect!

22 April 2015

This week we are inspired by the recent adaptation of Disney's Cinderella and of course the arrival of the new royal Princess Charlotte of Cambridge! We have been thinking about fairytale weddings and ways which you can feel like a Princess on your special day. You don't have to have a real crown to create that fairytale atmosphere, there are ways to make your day magical, just follow our five simple ideas to make your day Princess perfect:

Sparkling Lights!

Firstly, how could you plan a fairytale wedding without some sparkle here and there! Why not create an inviting atmosphere with some twinkling fairy lights? We love the idea of trapping them in a jar or wrapping around a centre piece. (The battery ones are perfect for this.) They also work well hung up, draping from beams or wrapped around stairways, just adding that extra touch of sparkle to your venue!

Arrive in style!

Well you can't be a Princess for the day without your own fairytale entrance! Traditionally, a horse drawn carriage would be a great choice to make you feel and look like a Princess. If this doesn't appeal, a luxury car, limo or even a helicopter would create an entrance that your guests won't forget!

Another way to add that fairytale element to your special day is to carry the theme on through to the finer details, like your stationary. These pop up paper carriage wedding favours are great! Making things yourself will help to make your wedding more personal to you. We love the idea of making your own confetti inspired by your favourite fairytale!  'Bibbidi - Bobbidi - Boo!'

Towering Tiers!

You can't be a Princess for the day without a towering cake to cut! These tiered towers with edible flowers look like they have flown off the pages of a fairytale, with the birds adding that whimsical link to Cinderella! We also love this beautiful Princess carriage cake and think it would look lovely on the top of a tiered wedding cake!

Sparkling Accessories!

Richard Designs Tiaras - TR1814A, TR1907A, TR1035A.

What more could a girl need to feel like a Princess, than a Princess tiara of course! An upright tiara or crown has always been what royalty has worn throughout history. (see our Royal Wedding Pinterest board here) As well as looking elegant, an upright tiara creates an air of importance and higher authority. This is why on your wedding day is the perfect time to embrance that look, when else will you get to wear a statement headdress and stand out for all to admire?

Here are some of our new silver traditional tiara styles, the TR1814A has a majestic look about it, we love the central sparkling stones! For a smaller, more traditional look, our TR1035A is a popular choice. It has a mix of pearl and crystal, so it complements many bridal looks. For more of a statment style, our TR1907A is a larger upright, with a lovely blend of pearl and silver crystal detail, you are sure to feel like a Princess wearing this headpiece.

Richard Designs Tiaras - TR1864GS, TR2042GS, B052M in gold & matching necklace and earrings set PB052.

These golden upright tiaras are from our new collection. There is something for everyone, our TR1864GS is available in gold or silver, with a mix of pearl and crystal, this tiara is perfect for adding a vintage look within a traditional tiara shape!

The TR2042GS, is also available in two colours (our favourite is gold!) and has a delicate but regal feel about it, perfect for a Princess look!

Finally, if you like the height of a traditional shape tiara but want something less traditional, our B052 is a great choice! It has clustered crystal flowers arranged in an upright style, available in small, medium or large, giving you the option to choose how much of a statement you make. This also comes in gold or silver with matching jewellery available.

Shoes to die for!

Your wedding shoes are the last thing you will put on before heading for the church, but they are certainly not an afterthought! For some, the shoes are one of the most exciting parts, because when, if not on your wedding day, do you get the excuse to wear utterly exquisite shoes?!

Then, afterwards, why not encase your shoes in a glass belljar, to treasure forever and have as a keepsake, out on display! <3
