Entertainment Ideas:
Following on from our wedding planning tips week, today we hope to give you some inspiration for your evening entertainment. It is not compulsory to stick to the traditional disco. Here are ideas we came up with:
Photo booths are a great way to keep your guests entertained and also provide some fun keepsake photos of the day. If you didn’t want to hire out an actual booth you could set up your own with a camera on a stand and a large hanging cardboard cut out styled like a polaroid. Put a basket of props next to it and wait for the amusing photos to unfold.
Fairground or garden games are great for a summer wedding outdoors. Things like croquet, boules or giant jenga are popular choices. For a fair theme, a coconut shy, hook the duck or a space hopper race would be fun!
Piñatas are great fun for the kids and adults and help to get everyone invlolved, especially good for weddings in set in a barn so there is lots of room for swinging arms!
Bouncy castles are a quirky choice for a garden or funfair themed wedding, get an adult size one so all of your guests can try it out!
A band or musician for the evening, or a disco is a great way to bring everyone together at the end of the day. You could even be your own DJ and put together your own playlist of your favourite songs, this way you know you will be happy with the song choice and will steer clear of the cheesy disco classics you didn't want.
Reminder: Don't forget to think about your chosen song for your first dance!
Having a magician to entertain your guests is a fun idea for a more relaxed wedding. Rather than a performance from them, they could simply walk around your venue speaking to small groups and getting your guests to chat to each other.
Caricaturists are always a good choice, so your guests will have a fun keepsake from your special day.
A Roulette table would be a fun event for the evening for those guests who are not into dancing the night away.
A party games area for the kids including games like twister would keep them happy during the speeches!
Try putting bubbles on the tables, these are great fun for your guests, especially the kids. You could even get the larger giant bubble sticks for a summer wedding, this could create some great photo opportunities!
Fireworks would be lovely to end the evening, it would be fun to include some sparklers for the guests to join in and makes for some pretty photo options!
