We are currently looking for a Design Assistant to join our team. The role involves working collaboratively with and supporting both design and production teams on a range of responsibilities. You will help to bring seasonal collections to life, supporting the team from initial concept through to technical document to finished sample. Enthusiasm for our brands and products, and attention to detail are essential qualities highly valued in the team.
Responsibilities will include:
- Have a clear understanding of our customers, brands and aesthetic.
- Create design documents and submit to the sampling teams.
- Help to create mock-ups of design details or beading.
- Keep track of and manage the progress of new designs through the sampling process.
- Assist with sample checks, taking notes and communicating any changes to the sampling team.
- Keep a record of the season’s collection, giving regular status updates on the progress of new samples.
- Collaborate with the buying team to help ensure materials are sourced ready for each season.
- Process, check and prepare new samples for launch events, including steaming dresses.
- Attend trade shows and events to help behind the scenes with catwalk shows and product presentation.
- Help prepare for and attend photoshoots to make sure the creative vision is brought to life.
- Help to record product codes, colour options, and product descriptions ready for product launch.
- Help the production team to troubleshoot problems after product launch.
- Give general support to the design team to support new collection launches.
Requirements:
A degree in fashion or textiles is ideal, but candidates will be considered with other qualifications in the field. Previous experience as a design assistant is beneficial.
- A passion for fashion and weddings is essential.
- A keen eye for detail and a desire to get things right.
- Strong organisational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A good communicator who is confident to express creative ideas.
- Ability to work collaboratively, supporting other team members’ ideas, and helping to bring their vision to life.
